Frequently Asked Questions
Here you’ll find the most frequently asked questions and details about us!
It’s possible to kitesurf in Egypt all year round and we are open 365 days a year. However, our main season starts in March and continues through till the end of November with our peak months being April-October.
The wind conditions are considered more constant and reliable during the summer months than the winter but never fear; we still have pretty good windy weeks in the winter too!
Wherever you travel in the world it is recommended that you remain vigilant and take extra care of your personal possessions. However, living here for many years we are confident enough to say that we feel very safe in Egypt!
Over the past few years, Egypt has received its fair share of negative media coverage, some of which has led to people being more cautious when considering Egypt for their next holiday. However, over 8 million people still chose to spend their holidays here in Egypt during 2017 and 2018! Why?! Because not only is Egypt home to some of the most interesting ancient sites, a wonderful spot for watersports and sunny most of the year round, it is also as safe as any other popular holiday destination.
El Gouna, in particular, is impossible to compare to other locations in Egypt. With its 24/7 security team, this purpose-built village allows even lone travellers to feel secure walking around and exploring the area.
The city is home to thousands of permanent residents from all over Europe, many of whom have chosen to invest their time and money into making El Gouna a safe and activity-packed haven for visitors from all over the world. Whilst keeping the style and feel of Egypt at the heart of it, El Gouna is like a home away from home. And unlike some other destinations, there’s no dress code enforced so you can be comfortable wearing whatever you feel best in!
Hurghada International Airport is the closest airport to El Gouna; approximately 30 – 35 minutes away by car.
The center is located on the kite beach approx. 5 mins from the Marina and 7-10 mins from Downtown by Tuk Tuk.
It’s very easy! Simply grab a Tuk Tuk from anywhere around the city. Some hotels also offer a shuttle bus service.
At Element Watersports you will also find a shuttle which takes you from the kite center to any location in El Gouna.
Sure! There are lots of areas available where guests can enjoy sunbathing and swimming. There is also a nice restaurant, showers and a Bedouin-style tent where they can sit and get some shade and still see what’s happening out on the water.
If you are travelling with children, there is also a small playground on the beach shade in a shaded area.
The restaurant has a good international menu with lots of things to choose from and with a nice selection for vegetarians as well. There is also a wide selection of non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages on the menu too.
Yes! We teach in the biggest flatwater lagoon here in El Gouna, where the water is warm and waist deep which makes it ideal for beginners. In the early stages of learning to kite, being able to keep your feet on the ground, stand up and walk backwards after an exercise, make learning much easier!
There’s also a teaching zone for beginners where they can learn without the additional worry of getting in the way of any independent riders. This gives you plenty of space and time to master those first level skills.
El Gouna is famous for its reliable wind which makes it a popular destination for kitesurfers from all over the world. Our season starts around March till November, but the most consistent wind is generally between June and October. During the winter months, the wind conditions can be a little harder to predict with a mix of light and strong winds.
Most of the time we have perfect side-onshore wind; making the spot safe for riders of all levels.
During peak season the most common kite sizes on the water are 7m, 9m & 12m.
Our spot is one of the only ones in El Gouna that has perfect teaching conditions all day round. Typically speaking the tides are lower in the summer and higher in the winter but that does not affect our ability to kite in this spot.
The lagoon is shallow enough to stand in all areas, but you can also head a little further out to kite in the deeper waters should you wish.
Private Lessons will 9x out of 10 be the better option!
Although group lessons work out cheaper, the actual individual teaching time you will get will be shorter. For example, a group of 3 people paying for 12 hours in the water will have the instructor’s attention divided between all three of them so, in fact, you’ll end up with less than 50% direct lesson time as an individual.
Less lesson time + other students struggles = slower progress for you!
When your time with us is limited to just a few days, you want to be sure that you will be making good progress during each lesson. The fastest and most economical way to learn how to kitesurf is always going to be through a 1-on-1 session.
That being said, there are occasions when learning as a group may be more appealing…
Although we recommend 1-on-1 lessons there are a few reasons why you may prefer to opt-in for group lessons.
- Cost – The hourly cost for group lessons is cheaper. So, if you are on a budget this will probably be an affordable option for you.
- Fun and Banter! – When you are learning something new it can help to have someone to share that experience with. When you learn as a group, you’ll have someone by your side to cheer you on as you master each skill or to keep things light-hearted if you’re not quite there yet.
- Family Bonding – Learning to kite is a great activity to share with your family and many people like learning to kite with their partners or children. You’ll create memories that you will be talking about for years to come and have a sport that you can enjoy sharing wherever you travel together in the future.

61 – 90 Kg, between 9m – 14m
90 Kg + 12m – 15m
We recommend that our guests bring a long wetsuit between November and April as the weather and water tend to be a little bit cooler. Water temperature can be as low as 22 degrees during Jan-Feb-March.
Some kiters prefer to use a shortie during May-June and October-Nov when the water temperature is around 23-25 degrees.
During summer months you only really need to bring your bikini/board shorts and a lycra for sun protection.

They sure can!! Asides from kicking back, relaxing and sunbathing on the top deck there is plenty for non-kiters to do on the safari from swimming, snorkelling, windsurfing, SUP and other activities. They’ll also be welcome to hop off the boat and head on over to chill out and explore the islands whilst we kite!
